Over 300 teachers in Migori county have benefited from digital learning platform training by se Moi University in conjunction with Teachers Service Commission.

The week long trainings were done at Kuja School for the Deaf in Rongo, Karungu Primary in Nyatike and Migori Primary School within town.

Digital Learning Programme officer in charge of Migori County Geoffrey Odhiambo said teachers were trained on ICT skills to assist pupils.

“They learned on how to handle tablets and equipment and why they should never use government issued laptops at home for personal use,” Odhiambo said.

Odhiambo revealed that 26 percent of public primary schools in the county have received lap tops with the rest set to receive by end of the year due lack of electricity.

Edna Oduor teacher at St. Anns Dede Primary School said the skills acquired during one week training will enable her assist pupils use DLP palm tops which are available in her School.

She challenged the Moi University and Teachers Service Commission to continue training teachers on quarterly basis so that they can use the same knowledge improve the learners’ skills.

“We shall be more efficient if they continue training us on quarterly basis. That means four times a year especially during holidays,” she said.
