(MIGORI, Kenya), Bishop Dr. Walter Ogwada has called for urgent security intervention in Migori County following reports of youths allegedly moving around Migori town while armed with crude weapons and disturbing members of the public.
Speaking during a church service in Migori town, Bishop Ogwada expressed concern over incidents of alleged hooliganism and intimidation, warning that the situation could disrupt businesses and threaten the safety of residents if left unaddressed.
The bishop urged security agencies to take decisive action to maintain law and order, protect the business community and ensure residents can go about their daily activities without fear.
He also called on politicians across the political divide to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election, cautioning against involving young people in activities that could trigger chaos and political violence.
Bishop Ogwada’s remarks come amid concerns over security in Migori town, where reports of groups of youths allegedly carrying crude weapons have raised questions about public safety and the protection of businesses.
The cleric has repeatedly called for peace and restraint whenever political tensions and violence arise, urging leaders to promote dialogue, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
As the country prepares for the next General Election, his appeal adds to calls for security agencies, political leaders and community stakeholders to work together to safeguard peace and stability in Migori County.
