I am not a political barometer like George Olumwa, but today I want to have a brief discussion with members here regarding one woman in Migori here whom I politically miss.
Her name is hon. Dennitah Ghati.
First the sweetest meaning of power is economic empowerment, during her tenure as the first Migori Women Representative she not only exhibited tolerance and humility but made sure that her team were stable.
In fact many of us would just make a swift call to Erick Opany, her personal assistant, whenever small matters arose and it would be sorted asap.
I don’t know much about Hon. Pamela Odhiambo, the current Women Representative, but I have met most of her core supporters and honestly there is nothing to write home about.
Back to Nya Kuria, She managed her office professionally to the point that even her greatest critic of all times Leah Kerri, who supported Fatuma Mohammed, at one point praised her ability to unite the county.
In the recent by election for the senatorial race, I met her once at Rokere school near Nyabohanse late evening single handedly drumming support to ODM candidate Ochilo Ayako.
To be precise she did a lot more to Ochilo’s win in the Kuria region that can be imagined albeit when the elected leaders in that region were pro Eddy Oketch.
Even though she is not elected leader she has continued with passion to champion development within the county working particularly with the disabled members of the society and women to spur social and economic growth and networking.
I don’t know her future political plans but I swear no single person can beat her if she decides to contest the women rep. Position 2022.
