Migori governor aspirant Christopher Rusana has called on quick and seamless issuance of national identification cards to ensure mass voter registration is smooth.

Rusana, who is the county secretary, said in Migori which borders Tanzania like other counties along international borders have issues of vetting and slow issuance of national ID cards.

“Even in the last elections like previous ones we faced the same problem of many residents lacking the important document,” he said.

He said despite the tedious vetting process, the process of getting the card is often marred by corruption from chiefs and their assistants.

“It is open that the required time to issue the cards should be shorten to less than a month,” he said.

He said chiefs and their assistants through elders have a serious access to every inch of the county and can facilitate the issuance of the cards and ensure each potential youths is registered as a voter.

He was speaking to Migori News in Migori town.
