Migori county police commander David Kirui has said they have acquired enough gadgets to monitor hate speech ahead of August 8 polls.
Kirui said this will help nab political leaders and individuals who will be found culpable of hate speech.
“We have received enough hate speech monitoring gadgets and we are ready to arrest whoever who will be found inciting people or engaging in hate speech during this electioneering period,” he told the press in his office.
Kirui asked warned a stern warning against politician using youths to cause chaos in their rivals rallies.
He was reacting to last week complains by Awendo politicians led area CDF chairman Nelson Ondong’ on police laxity to curb political thuggery and hate speech in the volatile region.
“We have a bad image as Awendo for constant violence in elections, we need a change by police vigilance on hate speech to curb the vice,” Ondong’ said.
He added: “Last week two youths were assaulted by political rivals in what is believed to be political difference, we are afraid of more,” he said.
