Technical Industrial Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TIVET) should not be associated with school failures.

South Nyanza TVET regional director Tom Muga said it was sad that the centers have been associated with those who have failed in education, an educationist has said.

Muga said despite government rolling out massive investment in TVETs, admissions especially in Nyanza have been low.

“Most are engrossed to get university and college education, which has seen low enrolment in Migori, Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay counties because of negative perception,” Muga said.

He was speaking with Migori News.

“Apart from improved infrastructure in the centers, the government is equally providing loans for learners, our younger generation should exploit this unwavering support to enhance their artisanal skills,” he said.

In November 2018, the government rolled out new technical and vocational courses in all technical institutions in a system aimed at delivering industry responsive skills.

The courses also tackled competence based curriculum policy framework in Vision 2030.
