Migori county assembly has been challenged to put to task governor Okoth Obado to explain in detail how he has spent Sh6.5billion in current financial year.
Wiper MCA representing marginalised people Richard Wambura wondered where the amount has gone to when Migori is not been able to complete some of the projects and also pay for services rendered.
“We are tired and fed up of seeing many people frequently thronging at the county treasury demanding for payment for services rendered in the last financial year,” he said.
He added: “How can county government say they don’t have money yet it received a total of ksh.6.5Billion in the last financial years.?”
He said failure to pay suppliers ,contractors among other people yet they received the whole allocation for the financial years should sent a warning to the county assembly that there is something wrong.
“The amount is not being used for the intended purpose,” he said.
Assembly chairperson for Budget and appropriation committee Abedi Maroa (Masaba MCA) and among those supporting Obado’s re-election confirmed that the county government received ksh.6.2Billion from the national government.
“Migori also collected Sh338Million in revenue and also got a grant of Sh109 Million in the financial year 2015/2016,” he said.
But in a quick rejoinder the county government through the Obado’s director of press Nicholas Anyuor the allocation is intack.
He said the county government is committed to complete all the stalled project and pay for all services rendered.
