Catholic Church Homa Bay diocese bishop Philip Anyolo has told off Migori county government over two institution land grabbing stalemate.

Anyolo said the church does not grab land but they are given by well-wishers and community as the two are battling in court over several parcels of land.

He was speaking on Monday during the inauguration of St. Mary Uriri Parish in Uriri sub county.

“This church sits on land which was donated by the community and the church never grabs people’s land,” he said.

He urged the church to remain united and work closely with the community despite the land issue.

He also urged the people of Uriri Sub County to support the new parish so that it can promote the word of God in the region

Defending the county government, Dominic Akugo the Director of Governor Okoth Obado’s office said the “matter will be handled amicably.”
