Legio Maria sect pope Romanus Ongombe (holding a scelpter) leading members around Got Kweru, Suna West

A Storm has ensued after a fraction of cardinals came out to register their anger and displeasure after three ladies came to pray at the Headquarters of the Legio Maria independent church in Africa and also started building a modern house for the church’s pope Romanus Ong’ombe at Piny Oyie village..

The cardinals led by the head of administration Samson Arogo told the media that the three ladies led by Dorothy Adhiambo Hongo said that the lady came into the headquarters of the church with the intention that God had sent her to come and build the pope a house and also renovate the tomb in which the founder of the church Messiah Melkio Samwel Ondetto was buried 20 years ago at the hills of Got Kweru in Migori county.

The cardinal concern is that the lady is alleged to be spying over the church activities and working in cahoots with the rival group led by Raphael Adika that wants to take ownership and leadership of the church since the said Raphael Adika’s rival group has been fighting over the years to take over the church, exhume the remains of the founder and bury them at his ancestoral land in Siaya county something that some of the cardinals, bishops and priests of the only independent church in Africa have opposed.

The storm has cause a split in the church among the cardinals and members with some standing firm to support the lady who has started to construct a three bedroom house for the pope at his home in Piny Oyie and the other group opposed to them claiming that want to kill the pope and allow the rival group to take over the leadership of the church whose headquarters are situated in Got Kweru hills in Migori.

In her response to the allegations leveled against her the lady Dorothy Adhiambo Hongo said that she was led into the church by one of the bishop’s Paul Mboya from Kisumu Legio maria branch who took her to the pope and was prayed for.She said she was sent to build a modern house for the pope as well as renovate the tomb for the church founder something that a section of the cardinals have opposed and want her to be sent back to her home mission in Kisumu catholic church in Nyamasaria.

The lady who alleges to be an investor in the hotel and hospitality industry has said that she has put all the resources she had to make sure that she fulfills the mission of building the pope a house.

The presence of the lady continues to elicit cracks and divisions in the church and is likely to cause a major fallout in the church leadership and the members as well.

The three mistresses have also been accused of the using the police to harass the members at the foothiils of Got Kweru using force to intimidate the members and create more rifts as they claim that they have shielded the pope from being reached by the members and even the cardinals with only two cardinals out of the 26 supporting her work at the calvary in Got Kweru…
