A suspected behind the raid of Homa Bay’s MCA home has been arrested by the Rongo police.

John Amalla Onere has been held at Kamagambo Police Station after South Kabuoch  MCA Oscar Ouma residence was raided and several properties destroyed in Rongo town last week.

Rongo OCPD Thomas Ngeiywa told Migori News that Onere is a key suspect in the raid believed to be politically linked.

He said two other arrested persons were released after it was established that they were not linked to the attack.

“We are still investigating the matter to ensure that the people involved are brought to book,” he said.

The MCA said the attack was politically instigated by a senior politician in Homa Bay county who incited a group of boda boda riders from his ward to attack his home.

He claimed a suspect had stolen a motorbike and youths ferried him up to his place of residence in Rongo with the aim of killing him but he intervened.

“Later after intervening to help the suspect, the same group came back when i was away, stormed my house and harassed my family,” he said.
