Migori police are holding a suspect from Nyamaraga village in Suna West Sub-County for killing and burying his friend in a shallow pit three weeks ago.
Daniel Otieno,32 is suspected to have killed his friend Laurence Okoth 27, at his house at night and buried him in a shallow pit which he planted a banana to conceal his deeds.
The sub-county police commander Elizabeth Wakuloba Otieno said the suspect was in the house with his wife when he told her to sleep in a separate room at night in the fateful day.
“When the wife woke up the following morning, she noticed that her friend’s husband was not there and suspected murder as the husband kept monitoring her, last Friday when he left for a fishing expedition she ran away and alerted the assistant chief,” Walukoba said.
The family of the deceased who were looking for their kin unearthed the soil and confirmed their biggest fear, before setting ablaze the suspect’s homestead.
“He will be arraigned in court soon,” Wakuloba said.
