Furniture made of bamboo at Nyabera farm in Uriri constituency on Monday during the World Bamboo Day
Nyabera Farm from South Sakwa ward in Uriri constituency become the first place for Kenya to hold her first World Bamboo Day celebrations.
The farm managed by Fransisca Kwasa has 60,00 bamboo seedlings for sale which attracted Agriculture CS Willy Bett to pay a courtesy call at the farm and have the day celebrated there.
Paul Ongugo the Science leader at Kenya Forest Research Institute led the celebrations saying the country should plant the tree more.
Kwasa said her farm has been propagating the seedlings in South Nyanza counties saying the bamboo trees, known as Modi in Dholuo is key in building furniture, structures, medicine and ending soil erosion by boosting forest cover.

My name is Mark I would like to get mr kwasa contacts. I’m interested in this project. I leave in USA but I want to do this bamboo farming in Wagire Tanzania.
It’s a privilege to be a part of a team that visited Nyabera Farm on 16/1/018.I was overwhelmed by the kind of passion and commitment Madam Francisca has on her farm.My friends there is too much going on in the farm that require your presence; A part from bamboo, other enterprises include:bananas, pineapple, birds, ornamentals etc.She is a real entrepreneur.
