Migori county secretary Christopher Rusana became the first resident to receive the jab at Migori county referral hospital on March 9.
County health executive Kephas Nyamita said Migori received 4,500 vaccine doses from government.

“The other 9,000 doses will come in second phase, first batch that will target 1,800 medical officers in both private and public hospitals in the county,” he said.
“We will also target all those who work in hospital environment from drivers, watchmen and cooks. This will be captured in the first batch,” Nyamita added.
He said the second batch will target police men and teachers.

Rusana and Nyamita urged residents to avoid misconception about safety of the vaccine and called on residents to come out and embrace it openly.
He called on residents not to rely on myths being peddled by naysayers on the state of the vaccine noting that the government made due diligence to ensure it is effective.
