Suna West MP Peter Masara has said politics have circled the building of construction at Oruba Primary School funded by local NG-CDF kitty.
“This new addition saw structural changes which saw pillars to be added on the first floor to hold a new floor upwards, it is changes that have attracted criticism which has taken a political angle,” Masara said.
He said the building has been approved by the National Construction Authority and will help accomodate the school within Migori town which lacks space.
“The only way to tackle the high population was to build the school upwards and the safety of the building is assured as government engineers approved it, sad that politicians chose to play dirty games with education of our children” he said.
“The building has been approved to continue and it will be on course, but sadly the matter has taken a political angle despite having the welfare of our children at the center,” said.
The building of the classroom was stopped for the past two months after parents led by Harrison Otieno lamented that the school safety was a concern.
“In the need to create more slaps the structure looked weak as it had cracks and it places the life of learners and teachers at risk,” Otieno said.
Masara said schools in Migori town lack space that is why he has also commissioned new Oruba Dip and Wuoth Ogik primary schools were construction work have begun.
“Students in these two new primary schools will report by next month when the new term starts, we have a huge deficit of public schools within Migori town because of high population as I will address it,” he said.
