Migori governor Okoth Obado had to sit down to confirm the assembly joining others in passing the BBI bill.

Obado and speaker Boaz Okoth lauded all 51 MCAs who were available at the house for passing the bill.

The two said they wanted to avoid legal loophole that is why they followed the due process, including public participation, in passing the bill.

Migori joins other counties to have passed the bill which will lead into a referendum and goes to people in the last county to pass the bill in ODM leader’s Nyanza backyard.

“We are ready to face the people of Migori with a referendum push, we will do our best as a county to ensure it is passed unanimously like it has been done in the assembly,” Migori governor Okoth Obado who was at the assembly said.

Okoth said they wanted to pass  a strong message that the county was strongly supporting the document by giving each MCA a chance to vote instead of acclamation.

“We have Kuria, Luo and Luhya communities in Migori, this is the face of a cosmopolitan county that is why we wanted a full process to avoid legal loopholes since we still have campaigns to reach to people,” Okoth said.
