Migori county land registry has over 50,000 title deeds which should be distributed.
Migori county commissioner Boaz Cherutich called on the political class to help in public distribution of the vital documents.
He called on women to take part in family land transactions to avoid seling off of family land or using title deeds to take up loans.
“We want land control boards to desist from land transactions that will not include women,” Cherutich said.
He said women as wives and daughters have right over land ownership in the constitution.
He was speaking at Migori county stadium on March 8 during the launch of county gender bill.
He said in the county, out of 307 chiefs and assistant chiefs they have 52 women, and “the number will be increased to 92 to meet the gender threshold.”
