Migori assembly on one month recess, to end on September 6

Having been at work for over six months performing their roles of Representation, Legislation and Representation diligently, hon. members of Migori County Assembly have today adjourned for one-month recess to be with their electorates.

While moving the motion of adjournment on the floor the Deputy Majority leader, Hon. Esther Onana, said that the recess could not have come at a better time especially now that social distancing is really required as one of the ways to keep Covid -19 at bay.

Hon. members supported the motion and said that this would give them a chance to carry out their oversight role especially on the various community projects being undertaken in their wards currently.

They also urged the Department of Education, Youths, Culture, Sports to consider re- routing the money meant for bursary to the construction of various ECDE classrooms in the County to aid the children in keeping the social distance when schools re-open, noting that this would be done through Supplementary budget when they resume sessions.

Members noted that the ongoing football Friendlies/tournaments in the County should be stopped for now adding that there is little and mostly no respect for the guidelines laid down by the Ministry health; they asserted that they might be disaster in waiting if not checked.

The Speaker of today, Hon. Samuel Orima encouraged members to ensure they carry out their representation roles very well now that they will be able to meet their electorates and know theirconcerns, He at the same time urged the Executive Arm to ensure that the resolutions of the

House from various reports, motions are implemented fully adding that committee work will continue as always through the available technology.

The Recess begins from today 6 th August, 2020 – and ends on 8 th September, 2020.
