Kuria elders have thrown their weight behind governor aspirant Anne Omodho Anyanga by endorsing her and promising to campaign for her in next polls.

Anyanga was also give a Kuria name “Mbusiro” meaning seeds for bumper harvest by the elders to show she was accepted by the community.

About 150 elders said the promise by governor Okoth Obado to help build factories for coffee, sweet potatoes and beef processing, together with motorbikes and opportunities for youths have failed.

Manga Wambura, Isaac Wantae and Nyagusuka Magige led elders from Nyabasi, Bairege, Bagumbe and Bakira clans for the Thursday ceremony at Nyamagenga Primary School.

Tagare Ward aspirant Ezekiel Bokobora and Senate’s Solomon Hodo attended the function

“We have not seen any promised pledge while time is up for any more promises from the current administration. Our farmers in Coffee, sweet potato and beef are still where they were before devolution,” Wambura said.

The elders said Anyanga was the first governor aspirant to seek their blessing and endorsement and warned any other aspirant for the position who will come later will not get another endorsement.

“We now know we have Mbusiro as our candidate from Kuria, she is the first to come and anyother person coming will have lost ground,” Bokobora said.

Anyanga said she was humbled to receive blessing and will work hard to include the community in her campaigns and administration.

“If the community picks a deputy among the elders for me I will consider him and push though the matter to ODM party,” she said.
