Former Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo and his supporters were forced to cut short his speech and walk away at a funeral in Otacho village.

Kopiyo’s and the incumbent Walter Owino’s supporters heckled each other in a high tension funeral of Jacob Awino, former Kokuro High School bursar who was an aspirant for Central Sakwa ward.

“Walter is my relative and currently as he works I have to keep off, but come 2022 general elections I will be in the ballot for the constituency seat,” Kopiyo said.

But Kopiyo angered his rival’s supporters when he said Obinju Charger, governor Okoth Obado’s campaigner, should keep off Awendo politics and supporting Owino openly.

But Owino said before Kopiyo comes in public to start campaigns he should tell voters how many residents of the constituency he has helped employ as the current chairman of Migori County Public Service Board.

“Afterwards he should tell us what he did to help the hailing Sony Sugar company when he was in the board,” he said.

He said only God will chose the next leader in 2022 general elections.

In 2017, Owino won on ODM ticket with 20,724 votes which was 49.99 per cent of votes cast to Kopiyo, on Independent ticket, with 11,780 votes coming second.
