Here are the names of nine Migori county officials facing corruption charges of irregularly spending Sh7.9 million.
They are largely drawn from the Migori county government tender committee to include chief Finance officer Bernard Olwenyo, and head of Supply and Chain Management Services Elekiah Odari both holding their positions on interim services.
Other committee members are Dan Othuondo, Alex Oyuga, Barnabas Agui, Collins Bala, Joshua Opondo, James Amenya and Fransica Onyango.
According to charges before the Homa Bay High Court, the nine are accused of awarding a tender to African Merchant Assurance Company (Amaco) Ltd without following procedure.
In the case last week, prosecutor Denis Shabola said their action was against the Public Procurement and Disposal Act insisting the amount was meant for motor vehicle insurance.
The committee members were accused of violating the Act by awarding the tender irregularly to Amaco.
They all denied the charges saying they never committed the crime before Homa Bay senior principal magistrate Thomas Obuto.
They were released on a bond of Sh500,000 each with the case being heard on March 27, 28 and 29.
