A female form three student at Nyarach Mixed Secondary in Rongo Sub County on Wednesday morning committed suicide by hanging herself to a tree after an altercation with her aunt.

Mary Akinyi, 18, was found dangling on a tree next to a stream by villagers who had gone to fetch water at a stream.

Central Kamagambo location senior Chief Silas Adika confirmed the incident to Migori News.

The student is from Kanyada area and was living with her aunt in Rongo as she attended the school.

“They disagreed on Tuesday evening and left the house in protest, attempts to locate her at night failed only for the family to be alerted in the morning,” Adika said.

Police officers from Rongo police station took the body to Rosewood hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
