Migori county potential first ladies in the forthcoming general elections have thrown themselves in the field to seek votes for their spouses.
On Wednesday at Otacho village in Awendo constituency Agnes Ayacko, wife to Migori senator Ochillo Ayacko and Dorothy Otieno, former Homa Bay executive and wife of former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno differed in public.
The two, among other dignitaries, represented their husbands for the burial of former Kokuro Secondary bursar Jacob Awino.
Both Ayacko and Dalmas seek to replace Migori governor Okoth Obado in 2022 when he retired.
Agnes and Dorothy took time to hype their husband performance in public office with Ayacko’s pulling a fast one when she claimed if Dalmas is elected most county resources will end up in Homa Bay.
Dorothy comes from Gem Randung’ area in Homa Bay county.
“We don’t want our resources to go to Homa Bay,” she said.
She said when Ayacko was the minister of energy and Rongo MP he initiated several development projects.
“I stand here as a daughter of Migori and can attest to Ayacko’s perfomance when he was my area MP in Rongo. He started his bid to be Migori governor, branched in as senator and will seek our mandate to complete the journey,” she said.
Dorothy said her husband, when he was area legislator for larger Awendo and Rongo constituencies, initiated several projects like Mulo Secondary School of excellence and starting a dispensaries in Otacho area.
“He (Dalmas) stood by Awendo residents and he seeks your support to stand by him in 2022 as next governor,” she said.
