Luo Council of Elders national treasurer Abel Ombuor has said elders should only bless aspirants ahead of next year polls instead of endorsement to avoid division.

Ombuor told Migori News in Migori town on Friday said with the 2022 elections nearing already several aspirants have approached the council to endorse them for several seats.

“As we are headed to the next general elections already candidates and leaders have started fighting on endorsement which will get worse as time progress,” Ombuor said.

He said while elders stand a better chance at giving direction for communities during key decision points, they also need to seek unity of their communities and the country at large.

In Migori county, Suba Council of Elders chairman Riogi Riogi on May caused political storm when he endorsed Christopher Rusana, Migori county secretary for the governor seat.
