Buoyed by a new bus from Suna West NG-CDF, Malera Mixed Secondary improves mean by 1.5

Malera Mixed Secondary School in Suna West constituency has improved their performance remarkably in the just released national examinations.

The school which had 82 candidates had two students scoring C plus and a mean grade of 3.68 (D plus) which is better than 2.23 they got last year where they had only 88 candidates.

The results were released by the schools Deputy Principal Judith Achieng’.

During the previous national examinations, the school was in the limelight for being among the last in the county and joint effort by stakeholders have seen the trend being reversed.

In last examinations, parents and locals led demonstration at the school where the highest student scored a C minus.

First the school increased the number of teachers employed by Teachers Service Commission to seven with the local Suna West NG-CDF improving infrastructure development in more classrooms and even helping the school secure a school bus.

The fund also helped build a modern science laboratory and a borehole at the school.

The school principal Zablon Moseti said the improvement will help them move upwards after they had met with all stakeholders.

“We had cases of chronic absenteeism, indiscipline, school drop out and parents not paying fees on time. We tackled those and believe Malera will be a shining academic light in Migori county,” Moseti said.
