Bishop John Okinda of Pentecostal Evangelical Faith Assemblies (PEFA) has called for Migori parents to be keen as three students have been reported murdered and two committed suicide.
Okinda said their need for more parental role and counseling services offered to students three students were murdered and two committed suicide.
“These deaths are unfortunate and show how we need good morals among students which can only be offered by parents and society who should help teachers in schools,” Okinda told the Star on August 9.
He said the deaths are caused by sexual relationships and broken families at home.
“As a community we need to be a watchdog and communally bring up students to be morally upright because cases of suicide and deaths are alarming withing a short period of time,” he said.
Here are the recent deaths:
- Police have launched a manhunt for a man who murdered his girlfriend, a form three student at Aneko Mixed Secondary School aged 17 years old after the lady refused to be married off to the suspect- Aneko assistant chief David Okoth confirmed the murder.
- Last Friday, a nine year old pupil from Susana Memorial Academy in Awendo town committed suicide at their sitting room after being asked to avail his Agriculture homework.
- On Wednesday, a form four girl at Nyarongi Mixed Secondary School committed suicide using a leso at the dormitory following domestic problem between her parents.
- On July 27, the body of Melvin Adhiambo, 21 a student at St. Sabianas Owich Secondary School was discovered in the evening after being killed by her boyfriend, Evans Ouma, 26- Nyatike Deputy County Commissioner Paul Langat confirmed.
- On July 27, Migori police arrested a form two student at Nyango Mixed Secondary School in Suna West sub-county after a plan to celebrate his new bacherlor’s hut with his girlfriend, a class six pupil ended up tragically- Kirengo assistant chief Fred Opiyo said.
