Awendo town residents have called on county government to move with speed and streamline garage collection to save them from stink.

Residents said governor Okoth Obado should ensure that the constant problem of garbage pile up in the town is rectified as that will be a befitting gift for “mamlaka kwa wananchi,” which is People Democratic Party (PDP) slogan.

“We are looking for a place where we can exchange our mamlaka for a clean town from an eyesore and health risk of uncollected garbage,” Commissioner Martin Ondong’ told Migori News.

He said the town has remained very dirty and they are afraid of contracting Cholera.

“We need the ministry concerned to come in our aid as we are afraid of cholera. The face of Awendo is not appealing to investors because of garbage collection,” he said.

Samuel Omwaga, a teacher said the air they breathe as residents is bad and they are afraid on quality of food they eat.

In the past, Migori county government will work with youth and women groups to help end grabage collection menace after passing of waste management law by the assembly,
