Anne Anyanga targets over 20,000 new voters drive in a month drive

Anne Omodho Anyanga, the only woman governor aspirant in South Nyanza has launched a voter registration drive targeting over 20,000 new voters within a month.

The ongoing drive will end on September 16 with youths allied to Orange Democratic Movement moving across all eight sub-counties with mobile registration centers.

The drive has also partnered with My ID, My Life initiative, registrar of persons, chiefs, village elders and other opinion shapers.

“Our initial target was 15,000 but he turn up has been positive so far with new applicants being registered immediately as voters,” she said.

She added: “We seek to ensure maximum voters in Migori county for cord leader Raila Odinga presidential campaigns.”

Shem Were, the Suna West Constituency ODM Sec-Gen said last Friday they got 205 new applicants from Osiri in Nyatike and Mabera in Kuria West.

“Within the past week we have registered 332 new applicants in Suna West, 670 in Uriri, 53 in Kuria East and 122 in Awendo sub-county,” Were said.

He added: “Our main target is youths who are out of school as most of them are yet to get registered as Kenyans.”
