Migori county government and governor Okoth Obado have been accused by 20 MCAs for refusing to allocate bursaries allocated in last financial year.
The affected said despite the assembly allocating Sh120million for bursaries and only wards whetre MCAs and in good political books with the governor have received bursary.
Yesterday the group was led by former majority leader and North Kamagambo MCA Richard Solo to address the press at assembly grounds.
Others included Joshua Ongoma (East Kamagambo) Jared Osawa (South Sakwa), Robert Bondori (Muhuru Bay) and Paul Mang’ondi (Got Kachola).
“Some of students who should have benefited from this bursary are already out of the school while other have terminated their education for lack of schools fees,” Solo said.
Solo said the county government should explain to the electorate why the bursary which is meant for the last financial years is yet to be given to some wards.
Osawa said that the county government received 100 percent of its allocation from the national government and they do not understand why bursary has not been released to all wards.
“We have used all avenues to seek for the bursary but all are in vain, some county government officer are like gods which must be appeased to render services,” Osawa said.
Bondori said many projects for the last financial have also not been completed yet the county government have been receiving the money on time.
Nicholas Anyuor, Obado’s director of press told Migori News that the government is working on the issue.
