Nominated MP Dennitah Ghati has said the Msambweni by-election is water under the bridge and offered lessons to the ODM party.
Ghati said the loss of the party to an independent candidate was only a lesson ahead of 2022 general election and will not affect the forthcoming Building Bridges Initiative.
Ghati told Migori News in Migori Town the party will plan for a national executive meeting discuss on their strength and weakness in Msambweni parliamentary by-election.
“The meeting will also help us deter similar results in future, but for people to think it will reflect on the outcome of the looming referendum is far fetched” she said.
Independent candidate Feisal Bader was declared on Wednesday morning Msambweni MP-elect after garnering 15,251 votes in a hotly contested by-election.
Bader’s main rival, ODM’s Omar Boga, came in second with 10,444 votes.
“The choice and decision of Msambweni residents to pick the candidate of their choice is respected,” she said.
She exuded confidence that ODM party remains a leading party in the coast region.
The MP reiterated that ODM national executives’ convention will be crucial to avoid future elections embarrassments.
