Migori governor candidate for ODM ticket Ochillo Ayacko has picked a new deputy governor.

Ayacko picked Joseph Gimunta Mahiri, a lecturer at the Geography department of Kenyatta University.

Ayacko said he appointed Mahiri “following wide consultations with the ODM Party and various stakeholders in Migori county.”

“Dr. Mahiri brings in a wealth of managerial experience and expertise both at local and national levels and will be of great benefit to the people of Migori,” Ayacko said.

The decision brings to an end a debate on who was to deputise Ayacko ahead of August 9 general elections.

Ayacko dropped Lucas Mosenda, who was his DG when he vied as an Independent candidate in last polls.

Mahiri comes from minority Kuria community
