President William Ruto presided over the disbursement of the NYOTA Business Start-Up Capital for young businesspeople from three Nyanza counties.

A total of 8,820 youths from Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties converged at Gusii Stadium in Kisii town to gain from the government and World Bank initiative to boost young entrepreneurs.

The group will benefit from an initial KSh220.5 million after a successful completion of a mandatory four-day business skills training programme.

The training equipped beneficiaries with practical skills in financial management, entrepreneurship, and business growth, ensuring they are well prepared to start, strengthen, and sustain their enterprises.

Under the first phase of the NYOTA Start-Up Capital Disbursement, each beneficiary will receive KSh25,000.

Of this amount, KSh22,000 will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s Pochi la Biashara account in their mobile phones to support business start-up or expansion, while KSh3,000 will be deposited into a Haba na Haba Savings Account managed by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

In the second phase, beneficiaries will receive an additional KSh25,000, bringing the total start-up capital for each young entrepreneur to KSh50,000.
