By MN Reporter

The Migori county government has rolled out a cholera vaccination drive to help curb the deadly disease which has also spread to Homa Bay, Kisii and Kisumu counties.

The prophylactic treatment vaccine will target residents in affected areas of East Kamagambo and North Kamagambo especially those directly affected to curb the spread.

The county health chief officer Donald Jaleny told Migori News today that they have resorted to vaccination after the number of residents in hospital rose by 10 to reach 30.

He said so far the disease has killed seven people.

“We are on high alert and the vaccination approach will curb the virus,” he said.

“To curb the spread we are working closely with Homa Bay, Kisumu and Kisii counties where the disease was also reported,” he added.

He said people selling cooked food in open risk arrest after they issued a directive against it and urged residents in the three counties to improve their hygiene to curb the spread of the disease.
