Former Migori woman representative Dennitah Ghati has declared interest to be the next county senator in the 2027 general elections.

Ghati said she has listened to the ground, had soul searching and interacted with voters both in Migori and opinion shapers in Nairobi, meaning the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership to arrive at the decision.

“Today I am her to let you know that inorder to continue this journey of making Migori county better and for sake of unity and inclusivity and for cosmopolitan Migori then I am here to confirm I will vie as next senator in 2027 elections,” Ghati said.

Ghati said she has observed the county and have given the current office holder Eddy Oketch time to deliver his campaign pledges to the people but said after two years she has “given our leaders enough time to work when the right time comes we will campaign.”

“We will give him (Eddy) time to work, but so far I am ready, capable and strong voice for Migori where the senate will get my input,” she said.

She said as Migori first woman representative and nominated MP representing People With Disability she has crisscrossed all 40 wards and is well versed with challenges facing the county.

“I know and i am known in all corners of Migori, we still continue to face challenges which i will address. Nationally i have defended the county in parliament and at ODM party top decision making organs,” she said.

She said she worked as women representative where she built markets at Nyaburu, Muhuru Bay, Nyankore and a rescue center in Kuria East in addition to several libraries and ICT hubs.

“We have had two other women representatives but this projects are what can be point as NGAAF projects for that time,” Ghati said.
