The only Nyanza governor in the region six counties to receive a petition from Gen Z demonstrators made first public appearance.

In a show of political might, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo earlier in the week made first tour outside Nyamira town after threat of demonstrators invading his officers.

Nyaribo toured Keroka Municipality and inspected Keroka Hospital where both county and national governments are putting up modern theaters, wards, and equipment.

The project upgrade is nearing completion and will soon open its doors to patients who will get a comprehensive outpatient wing, two state-of-the-art theaters, and male and female general wards.

“We are committed to serve Nyamira county and fulfill our pledge to voters and residents,” Nyaribo said.

He said the hospital will also have a fully equipped maternity wing, a pediatric ward, and dedicated ante-natal and post-natal wards in addition to construction of a morgue, incinerator, and a power supply house.

In a thinly veiled attack on leaders sponsoring early political campaigns before next general elections, Nyaribo singled out former Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.

Nyaribo got a political scare during Gen Z demonstrations when he was forced to receive a petition after being accused of rampant corruption and nepotism among over ten other demands.

He was the only governor in Nyanza six counties to get the political scare.

Nyamira youths, in what those close to Nyaribo said was political instigated, demanded the sacking of the County Executive Committee member in charge of gender, culture and sports Dr Grace Nyamongo.

They accused her of not addressing the problems and challenges facing the youths in the county.

In a petition pushed by Edward Machuki had  a total of 18 points and before the demos filtered off across the country, had threated daily demos against Nyaribo’s administration.

“We will only recognize and respect your government if you address our petition failure to which we will take to the streets twice a week until you give in to our demands” Machuki stated.

The Gen-Z accused the Nyaribo government of being riddled with rampant corruption, nepotism and clanism.

They also accused Nyaribo of sidelining the youths when it comes to employment opportunities and the awarding of tenders and vowed that they could only recognise his government if they are given their rightful share in his government.

Governor Nyaribo has also been asked to account for the funds allocated for Manga stadium, governor’s headquarter and residence and other projects which have now stalled, the promotion of county employees among  them  the medics, ECDE teachers and casual workers .
