Suna East youths have been challenged to bring leadership change by ensuring they register as voters ahead of next polls.
Youths have been urged to pick from Gen Z demonstrations against President William Ruto where youths forced change against corruption and bad leadership.
Youths allied to Suna East MP aspirant, South African based lawyer Job Tambo, said they have been pushing for youths to be registered nationally by government.
“This is the only way we can also be registered as voters and bring change at the ballot,” Simon Otieno said.
Otieno, an official at Job Tambo Foundation said recently youths in Suna East had a football tournament for the first time in 15 when online trolled forced one.
“We highlighted our voices and asked Junet Mohammed why NG-CDF allocation for sports was never there, then we got one but we will push for an overhaul in the polls,” he said.
He was speaking in Migori Town on Friday when they flagged off 27 continuing form three students from the constituency who benefitted from full scholarship from the foundation.
The cohort will be supported through college, a first in Suna East.
The foundation has also aided over 1,500 Suna East students with bursary.
“We have neighbouring constituencies where bursary allocation is never politicised and they have scholarship, if we had full scholarship in the past 15 years we could have a generation of professionals” Peter Paul Gendia said.
Gendia also known as Paul KE said as youths they will pick it up to ensure they push through change.
“We have lost 15 years in Suna East years, we will push through an agenda which will end this,” Fendi said.
Lawrence Osoti a student at St Michael Nyandema who wants to be a lawyer in the future said the scholarship has been an eye opener.
“We have gotten a meaningful shot at education and we appreciate the love by Tambo,” he said.
Jane Atieno a parent thanked Tambo for the gesture which he said will open up Suna East ahead of 2027 elections.
