The Migori county Kenya National Union of Teachers has raised Sh1.2million towards buying a welfare bus for its members.

Deputy Secretary General of the union national Charles Katege presided over the Harambee which was organised at Migori Teachers College.

“The new bus will not only be a welfare bus for members, but also be a source of income for branch,” Katege said.

Katege also said the union has faulted the increase of NHIF rates for workers.

“By increasing the amount to Sh1,000 from Sh300 is a sure way for the government to undermine teachers in the country,” he said.

Katege insisted the union will go on strike to ensure the amount is not increased.
