To avoid deaths stemming from the obstetric or fistula complications, Mrs Ochillo urged women to take advantage of the ongoing treatment to seek early medical attention.

She took to her social media accounts to mobilize women across all platforms to go for screening and fistula treatment.

“I don’t normally post in such forums but I am compelled to write this in this forum because we still have obstetric fistula patients who are afraid or embarrassed to take advantage of the ongoing free fistula corrective surgeries,” she said.

She added: “My appeal to you is that incase you know any woman who is not able to control flow of urine or long call or if she still smells of urine despite regular baths; Please take them to Migori Referral Hospital for screening and if it turns out to be fistula then they will be treated free of charge.”

Mrs Ochillo was able to organize for the fistula treatment through her noble Agnes Ochilo Foundation in collaboration with African Medical and Research Foundation (AmREF) and , M-pesa Foundation among others.

The medics are making bold steps inorder to restore and transform health as well as dignity of m mothers in Migori county by offering timely and high quality medical treatment to Women suffering devastating child birth injuries or otherwise known as obstreatic fistula.

The comprehensive obstetric care commenced yesterday and is ongoing and the doctors, said, they will be in Migori upto 2nd of October 2024.

“Men who have similar problems can also be advised or treated at the hospital by the same doctors. Let’s take advantage of this program to restore dignity to humankind. Patients from out of Migori will also get free treatment,” Mrs Ochillo said.

Governor Ayacko is committed to improving primary health care especially to the lowly or indigents in the county.

He has been working round the clock to boost existing health centres and to equip them with necessary infrastructure and staff.

Just last week, he opened several dispensaries in a number of wards that dot Migori County.
