Kisumu residents have expressed deep appreciation for President William Ruto’s recent visit to the city, where he addressed a mammoth crowd in the Kondele area, after attending the Afsenet Conference.
The President’s visit was seen as a powerful demonstration of his commitment to uniting all Kenyans and fostering an inclusive government that transcends ethnic divisions.
The event, which took place in the heart of Kisumu, was attended by thousands of residents who gathered to hear President Ruto’s address.
In his speech, the President emphasized his vision for a united Kenya, underscoring the importance of a government that is representative of all communities.
This inclusive approach is a cornerstone of his administration, as reflected in the diverse composition of his Cabinet and government officials.
Among those leading the appreciation were Kisumu’s Deputy Governor, Mathews Owili, and other local leaders, who commended the President for his efforts in promoting peace, unity, and development across the country.
Owili, in particular, acknowledged the positive strides the government has made towards addressing issues of ethnicity, which have historically been a source of division in Kenya.
He remarked that the President’s leadership was not only transforming the national political landscape but also changing how the people of Kisumu and the wider Nyanza region view national unity.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Kisumu, Owili said, “We owe President Ruto a debt of gratitude for his unwavering commitment to bringing people together. “
His government’s broad-based approach shows that every Kenyan is valued, regardless of their ethnic background.
His actions demonstrate that he is serious about moving beyond political divides and fostering inclusivity at all levels of government.”
The Deputy Governor further noted that the President’s visit to Kisumu and his address to the residents was a sign of the growing partnership between the government and the region, which had previously felt sidelined in national governance.
The people of Kisumu, Owili said, are optimistic about the future and believe that with President Ruto’s leadership, the region will experience significant development.
Kisumu residents, who gathered in large numbers, applauded the President for his efforts to address their concerns and for actively involving them in the national conversation.
Many expressed confidence that the President’s visit would pave the way for more government initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and enhancing opportunities for youth in the region.
President Ruto assured the people of Kisumu and all Kenyans that his administration remains committed to delivering on its promises, fostering national unity, and promoting sustainable development across the country.
He called on all leaders, both national and local, to work together to ensure that Kenya continues on the path of progress and prosperity.
The President’s visit to Kisumu is seen as a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to heal divisions in the country and move towards a more inclusive, cohesive society.
