Cabinet secretary Opiyo Wandayi has termed as hypocrisy the recent criticism against President William Ruto government.
Speaking in Migori town on Friday, the Energy CS said it was absurd that since Orange Democratic Movement party moved in government there have been high hue on criticism on Ruto’s administration.
He said since former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached and replaced by Kithure Kindiki opposition against the government has been high.
He said the opposition has been rife because several opposition figures especially Luos are settling in government.
“When Luos were outside here and we were rising our voices against the government especially in 2023, we were bad and the government was good. What has suddenly changed?,” Wandayi said.
He said in 2023 over 70 youths were killed and the church, civil organization, politicians and even the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) was silent.
“When we requested a venue to pray for these departed souls, all churches refused to grant us prayer venue,” Wandayi said.
He said only the Catholic Church offered them a land at Karen area in Nairobi.
“But even there our tents were brought down and we ended up praying at Kalonzo Musyoka compound, what happened then and now?,” Wandayi posed.
He said “now that Gachagua is impeached and Luos are finding their feet in government hypocrites have found voices to fight the same government which they said was good.”
Wandayi said all Kenyans have a right to access government service and opposition and creating mayhem in streets is not preserved to only one section of the country.
“Now hypocrites have found their voices and there is a sinister conspiracy against Ruto which is evident to see,” Wandayi said.
He said Luos will fully support government and ensure Ruto gets a second term in next polls.
