Kisii senator Richard Onyonka has told off cabinet secretary Opiyo Wandayi over his remarks on Luos being in government.

Onyonka threatened to form an alternative party to bring in the Kisii voters to have a voice if remarks of those in ODM like Wandayi continues.

He was reacting to an earlier news we posted from Nyanza News in an oversight WhatsApp group in Kisii county.

Speaking in Migori town on Friday during a cultural function, Wandayi said that Luos are in government hypocrites have found ammunition to fire at government led by President William Ruto.

“”Some of us ( in ODM) are not Luos and we are not in government’! Our agenda was to instill and encourage good governance , equity, fairness and justice!,” Onyonka said.

The senator said when the party was in the streets especially in 2023 against Ruto’s administration it t never occured to him “that we were in the struggle because we were fighting to be in government!!!”

He said it was sad that while others were fighting in ODM, a section saw it fit to negotiate and government.

He threatened that he will form or help popularise a party for Kisii region to cut off from the ODM party.

“We will get ESAIGA YAITO, We will leave him (probably ODM leader Raila Odinga) with his Wandayis and Kalumas,” he said.

Wandayi said it was sad that after former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was impeached people he called hypocrites led by church and civil society have been attacking government.

He saw the renewed attack as discomfort that Luos have joined government.

“This is a conspiracy against the government and when we can see through it, when Luos were in the streets and dying government was good, what has changed?,” Wandayi said.
