kenya police have launched investigations into two suicides in Nyanza area that occurred in separate incidents.
In the first case a 23-year-old form four student from Oyani SDA Secondary school died by suicide when his body was found hanging using a red electrical wire and dangling on the rafters in the sitting room.
The area chief, West Kanyamkago, reported the incident and area police found the body dangling on the rafters in the sitting room with no visible injuries.
“No suicide note was recovered, the body was removed to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy,” DCI noted.
In Homabay County, a 47-year-old from Buche village died by suicide by hanging himself from a tree using a sisal rope within his homestead.
Area South Kanyamwaa location chief said earlier the deceased was seen at Kobodo market, possessing the sisal rope, which is believed to be the one he used to commit suicide.
“22-year-old son to the deceased who discovered the body of his father reacted by cutting the rope using a machete in an attempt to save the life of the deceased,” police said.
Police officers from both the Kobodo police station and DCI Ndhiwa visited the scene and found his lifeless body lying there.
Both scenes have been processed, and the bodies moved to local mortuaries awaiting autopsy.
