Civil servants have welcome a move by government to avert a looming strike.
Government said the second phase of salary and allowances implementation was in due course and will be back dated to July 1.
This was after a collective bargaining agreement.
“This win, which shall be backdated to 1st July 2024, is welcome and comes at a time when workers payslips are hard hit due to the enormous responsibilities they meet daily,” Tom Odege, secretary general for Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS) said.
Odege, who is also the Nyatike MP said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said earlier they had threatened to go on strike but the National Treasurer CS Hon Hon John Mbadi Ng’ongo and Public Service CS Hon Justine Muturi responded.
