The tenure of the MASENO University VC Prof. Nyabundi has come to an end after serving in the capacity for 10 years.

Prof. took over Maseno in 2016, when the institution was at the blink of collapse because of wanton looting, total disregard of students welfare and incompetence across all levels of the university.

It was also just after a massive demo in late 2015 that left several premises, including the Finance Office, burnt down.Immediately he took over, he began rebuilding, modernized the infrastructure — from lecture halls, roads and doorways across the campus— built hostels, beautified the environment and greatly improved students welfare and well-being.

He will also be remembered as the man who led to massive growth at the university, with student enrollment now standing above 8K per year.Beyond these achievements, Prof. seems to have lost grip of leadership in the last two years of his tenure! H

He has left Maseno with many unresolved cases of missing marks, billions in pending bills, unpaid lecturers, a broken student portal, some extremely rude staff , starting from “Wing B” who are careless about students and failed to resolve delayed issuance of certificates.

He has left a beautiful institution, with broken systems and processes, which is almost incapable of managing its own IT infrastructure, despite having all courses ending with IT.

Meanwhile, Prof. Erick Otieno Nyambedha, PhD. has been appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor of Maseno University.
