A recent survey conducted by Infotrak Research and Consulting has found that over 65% of Migori residents back Governor Ochillo Ayacko’s development agenda.

The 2024 performance index survey, released in Nairobi, evaluated both county and national leaders, showing a favorable ranking for Ayacko’s administration.

When respondents were asked, “How does your county compare in terms of development now, compared to before the introduction of devolution in 2013?” 65% indicated that the county had improved, 25% felt it had worsened, and 10% reported no change.

During an award reception at Norfolk Hotel, Migori County Secretary Dr. Oscar Olima and Assistant Deputy Director of Public Communication Denice Wasike expressed gratitude for the residents’ confidence in the governor’s leadership.

“We appreciate this recognition and remain committed to enhancing services for all residents,” stated Dr. Olima.

The survey results reveal an increase in support for Ayacko, with his approval rating rising from 57.6% during the August 2022 general election, where he won with 175,226 votes against John Pesa’s 126,171, a margin of 49,050 votes.

In that election, voter turnout was 64.9%, with 304,415 out of 469,053 registered voters participating. Ayacko received 57.6% of the votes, while Pesa garnered 41.4%, with other candidates collectively receiving 1% and some votes spoiled.

The latest survey shows a 7.4% increase in Ayacko’s approval rating just two and a half years after his election.
