Police are investigating how a key murder suspect was among 12 Eritreans aliens who escaped from a police station in Nairobi.
Collins Jumaisi was among 13 suspects who escaped from the police station on Tuesday morning.
Police only realised Jumaisi and others were missing when they woke up suspects in custody for routine morning tea.
Jumaisi and Eritreans had cut a wire mesh that forms part of security to the cells and scaled a perimeter wall to freedom.
Director of DCI Mohamed Amin said they have launcher a manhunt.
“It is unfortunate this has happened but we are pursuing the matter for action,” he said.
Jumaisi was a top and high-value suspect and had been remanded there pending plea taking on Friday.
He was under custody with two other suspects linked to the Kware killings.
The three suspects are Jumaisi Khalusha, Amos Momanyi, and Moses Ogembo.
The bizarre killings was reported weeks ago at a quarry within Nairobi’s Pipeline Estate where 42 women are reported to have died.
The suspects were presented before Makadara Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi where the prosecution sought the court to allow them to detain the three accused persons for 21 days.
