Full List of Ruto’s 21 Cabinet Secretaries and their date/time with parliament for vetting

All focus and eyes of President William Ruto and Kenyans will shift to the National Assembly after dates and time for vetting of cabinet secretaries were released.

The national government released a schedule for the vetting of Ruto’s 21 cabinet nominees spread across the four days starting August 1.

“It is notified to the general public that in compliance with Article 152 (2) of the Constitution, section 6(4) of the Public Appointments Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, Cap. 7F and Standing Order 45(3), the Committee on Appointments shall conduct Approval Hearings (Vetting) of the nominees from 1st to 4th August 2024,” reads a notice by Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge.

The notice is always given after the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula receives communication from the president William Ruto.

So vetting will be done by assembly committee on Appointments at the Mini-Chamber, County Hall.

Here is the full list (Ruto is yet to name the Attorney General and East African Community and ASAL nominees):

  5. Aug 1, 5pm: Defence – Soipan Tuya 
  6. Aug 2, 8am:  Agriculture and Livestock Development- Dr Andrew Karanja
  7. Aug 2, 10am: Environment, Climate Change and Forestry- Aden Duale
  8. Aug 2, 12pm: Water, Sanitation and Irrigation – Eric Muga 
  9. Aug 2, 3pm: Roads and Transport – Davis Chirchir 
  10. Aug 2, 5pm: Information, Communication and the Digital Economy- Dr Margaret Ndungu
  11. Aug 3, 8am: National Treasury – John Mbadi
  12. Aug 3, 10am: Investments, Trade and Industry – Salim Mvurya
  13. Aug 3, 12pm: Tourism and Wildlife – Rebecca Miano
