1. untested strategic assumptions around farmer involvement, erroneous policy choices by the central government and Commesa safeguard red herring.
2. as policy options, we have gone too far looking for solutions. In my view, the only solutions that can work now are the following:
a) recapitalize the company through a thoughtful restructuring of its finances;
b) change the mode of choosing directors
c) government to allow operational freedom
d) change legal framework on contract management
e) serious re-orientation of farmer mentality so that they can benefit more from farming.
3. I can see that Government will not get what it is expecting from the sale. Sell the company from a position of strength not at a position desperation to run away from problems.
Every body will benefit from transactions involving the above perspectives than the one being pushed currently.
I would like to hear your views on these matters.
Thanks.
