Nyatike man arrested for killing, gouging neighbour’s eyes in bizarre ritual

Police in Nyatike sub-county saved a suspect from a lynch mob naying for his blood after a bizarre ritual killing of his neighbour.

Mark Otieno, 32, escaped death by a whisker after Central Karungu chief Victor Bungu prevent a angry lynch mob from killing him by handing him over to police.

“He was chased by locals as he tried to escape, we have handed him over to police who have launched further investigations to establish the motive of the killing before pressing murder charges,” the chief told Migori News.

Otieno waylaid his victim Kennedy Otieno on the roadside in midmorning before attacking him with crude weapons on the head.

“He later gouged out the deceased’s eyes, he was found in the bizzare incident where he tried to escape before being corned by villagers,” Bungu said.

The deceased body was taken to Sori Lakeside Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
