A Seventh Adventist Day member has killed her sister-in-law for ridiculing her church that they don’t eat meat or food cooked with processed oil.

Police rescued the woman only identified as Monica from a lynch mob in Migori town after the bizzare murder in in cold blood of Caroline Achieng’, 27.

“Monica had left her husband and was remarried, trouble started when the new couple moved into new rental houses and found his former sister in law,” Queen Atieno, a neighbour said.

Neighbours told Monica that the deceased was ridiculing her church where worshippers were not allowed to eat meat or processed food.

The church issue triggered off the bizarre murder which has left neighbours in shock.

“They were fighting with knives where the deceased was stabbed severally in the chest, Monica escaped with minor injuries and police rescued her after the public had stripped her naked and was ready to lynch her,” a neighbour said.

Both were taken for treatment at Migori Level Four Hospital where the deceased died and was taken to the morgue, while the suspect is still under police protection on injuries sustained.

“Monica complained that Caroline had been gossiping with other women on how her first marriage collapsed, jeopardizing her new marriage. The church issue was just a trigger as Adventists eat meat” Peter Opiyo a relative said.

Migori police boss Joseph Nthenge confirmed the incident.
