Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has said Deputy President William Ruto exaggerated that his shoes cost Sh60 in 1980s when he was joining secondary school.
Junet insisted that during that period, when Ruto said his father bought for him his first shoes, a pairs used to cost between Sh1-3, with “wealthy people buying shoes for Sh10.”
“We know that by then a shoe used to cost about a shilling, rich Kenyans used to own shoes worth ten shillings then. His shoes worth Sh60 shows that corruption and stealing was engrained in his DNA,” Junet said.

During the Thursday national breakfast meeting, Ruto took a swipe at ODM leader Raila Odinga joking that he should apply for the position of the vacant Prime Minister post in England.
Junet said it was unfortunate that Ruto has been using even religious platforms to attack other leaders saying his statement that he had more to thank God for his humble beginning while President Uhuru Kenyatta was in State House when his father Jomo died was an insult.
